JC... That's what they see in their minds when they hear ice and 1-3" of snow around here.. However, i do expect power outages..

if the gas in the tank is more than about 2 months old, it most likely will not start. i put a double dose of marine stabil, and a double dose of regular stabil in with 1 gallon of gas and i get about 6-8 months out of the gas.

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

It could be, weak gas. After a minute of running on propane, i flipped the fuel switch to gas and it stayed running..  i have 4 full propane tanks, so no biggie right now.  I may just remove the gas and let the tank dry out, and just use propane.  You do lose 10% of the wattage on propane, but for us, its ok..

I can never talk people out of buying these things. 5 kilowatt hour capacity for like 4000 bucks. If you are careful maybe, just maybe running nothing but the bare essentials you might get 6 -8 hours out of it. And they include "fast charging solar panels". Yeah, like 500 watts of solar. Maybe if your idea of fast is like a week to charge the damned thing.

I mean I guess if you live in an apartment in a high rise somewhere, it's the best you can do ,BUT,,,,,,,,sg5000plus_650x.webp.e0ee9dca18a538509508fe65d426f0d3.webp

Thank you for the kind words, I don't know about all that, but I did "buy now with one click" on this one.

O.D.  I have some new info for you.. we are expecting ice and some snow tomorrow, so i went out to start my Genny. It would not fire. I pulled the spark plug and cranked it and the spark was a good color but it was a small spark. I put it back in, tried to start again on Gas, no go. Switched to Propane, and it started right up.. Also, the cute little battery that came with it doesnt like 25 degree air.. So the moral of my story is..... Buy a good spark plug and a lawn mower battery for the new Genny. I will be replacing mine very soon. I cant drive for a few more weeks, but next time my wife goes out, i will get the parts..  I hope you find this helpful. I forgot that the Chinesium sparks plugs suck.  Jojo

I’ve had my Gen for 3 years I put a nite switch on it as soon as I got it! it cranked fine after sitting for those three years! Just wouldn’t start 😡

agreed. it is unbelievable how many people ask me about those "as seen on TV" solar generators because i have 7 different size generators.

i try to explain they are not generators. they are battery packs.

and if it is "as seen on TV" it is about as useless as teets on a bull.

O.D. I was wondering if Zena has. U.P.S. for her computer systems? It is good protection for sensitive electronics. (Uninterruptible Power Supply).. i think they are low cost protection systems.

that is a pretty good unit. when you get it running,  turn the fuel valve off and see if it shuts off, or stays running until the carb runs dry.

if it does not stay running open the cover and unplug the kill switch hooked to the fuel shutoff.

this way you can let it run and drain the carb after use before you put it away.

ALWAYS put it away with a dry carb.

And ALWAYS use non-ethanol gas!

I have no idea. Her setup looks like a NASA control room. I think her laptop is the main computer, and she has 3 monitors besides the laptop that she uses.

I recommend a U.P.S.  have her look it up. She may know what it is and its purpose..

I used to have a triplite 1500 with lead acid batteries that I trash picked. Probably from the 90's, Worked really good, had lots of capacity. Batteries got weak in the early teens before I moved up here. Not sure where it went

Todays U.P.S. units are solid state, and offer surge protection, Hertz balance, and back up power for a short time keeping her computers powered up, while he cranks the Genny..

This was a pretty fancy commercial unit. It detected over and under frequency, under and over voltage, and sine  wave distortion. It would alarm and take the load, indicator lights on the front to let you know why

It was this model, but it was white

Joey, you are in a perfect position to make a worthwhile investment that will pay for itself in a short time. The new world technology is now available to buy. I think that within 3 months you should be able to buy the Strike Technology retro fit kit in USA. Sales have commenced by the Thailand licence holder, Plasmoid Power Ltd @ $US 647 plus delivery. PP is a subsidiary of a UK parent company that has the licences for Thailand, Malaysia and Nigeria and all the electric power plants (coal and gas) in India..

The technology runs on very little fuel, eliminates all pollutants and the exhaust outlet produces 99% oxygen at 19 degrees celcius and a clean engine because there is no carbon in the motor. Reduces engine service and extends oil life in the motor plus extra 70% engine power. You can run a pipe from the exhaust into your home and that will be your air con service, near pure at at 19 degrees. That is healthy air to breathe. So you can remove 1 a/c unit and all the issues with the a/c unit. You cannot adjust the oxygen temp, that is how it comes out. Maybe the inventor will come up with a way to convert the oxygen into a warmer temp in the future so it can heat in the winter months.

For you, being a mechanic you should be able to retro fit the kit to your genset unit in 2-3 hours and then go.

Anyone who has a decent working older reliable genset can become independent of the power grid and save big $'s.

A guy in Nth Carolina has fitted the system onto his 6cyl 1956 Chevy and it works very well.

There will be more world news about this new technology soon, watch this space.
