CF-Firefighter Posted January 12 Share Posted January 12 Lost the turbo on the way to a Christmas parade on my cf700. prior to that the braided oil line from the oil galley to the air compressor let loose. figure it’s all related to oil starvation. anyone know about sourcing a turbo for an 865? CF-Firefighter Posted February 28 Author Share Posted February 28 Finally got the turbo pulled now that the weather is nice. semi local diesel shop that does work for us on our ag equipment stepped up. the Mack turbo was discontinued years ago, can’t get it. This shop found a direct replacement Borgwarner drop in for me. Brand new no core with better mapping. should be her soon. Used and spin freely, no slop in shafts. CF-Firefighter Posted March 5 Author Share Posted March 5 Turbo is a modified BorgWarner 183386 4LE it looks like it will drop right in. The diesel shop said it should out perform the factory turbo. The only difference I see is the turbine housing is quite a bit smaller, but the inlet and outlet are the same size. I was surprised to see how big the factory turbo housing was considering how small of an area inside the housing the exhaust has to flow out of. Basically a 1/4” gap all around the outlet. Might take you up on a used turbo as a spare if this does work out or if I need one because this one won’t work.
