Actually, there isnt an EGR on an AI. Its a bump on the exh cam lobe.  The exh manifold is restrictive along with the ECU program.  It does a lot of math and only delivers enough fuel to keep from being a rolling road block..  you can change the gov setting from min-max to allspeed and get a little pep in the step but, thats all i know. Smarter guys than me may know better.

Read this thread in its entirety.  It explains what you are driving.

I recall that thread now but I was not driving this truck back then so I was not following it closely

I got to the end reading it. seams like a wealth of info to improve these engine......and have to ask, what did Mack Technician do to be banned?  Did he ever return here under a new name?

Thank you

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

How does one break rules here ?  Just curious.. I dont see a need to.  Unless they were pickin on tjc, and knocked his ice cream out of his hand..

I expect his A.I. to be a 400 HP.  He has a T-310 transmission.

I listed the vin tag in the first post. I have not looked for a hp tag on the engine. All I know is these were originally to be sold to ABC building  supply but the deal fell thru and they got a good deal on a batch of these after the frames were shortened for use as a tractor..

I'd suspect it was built as a cheap  low hp fleet spec truck design to Hau maxl 50k gross.

not my ice cream, my jack and coke!!!

the rules here are pretty hard to adhere to, which everyone currently knows.

not all, but the important ones:

Any member that willfully trolls or tries to instigate other members will receive warnings but may also be banned at anytime!

No nudity or shock imagery (gore) - It is safe to post photos that are no worse that what you can see at a family beach.

Do not post anything illegal, hostile or threatening.

Name calling, harassing or threatening other members will not be tolerated!

Disrespecting forum moderators or admin as well as failure to follow any forum guideline and/or rules will result in warnings or bans!

the bottom two are the ones that were blatantly disregarded causing the mass cleanup.

then when you come back with another username and start rite into calling out the site and moderators, well, you get the extra large ban hammer.

now back on track:

we had 5 at the old company.

427 with the Mack 8 speed trans. gutless wonders. but they were only gutless wonders because the shop manager  (owners father) was a firm believer turn the engine down and they will last forever. so he had them detuned to round 300 HP and they also got 3 mpg.

i tried telling him numerous times if he turned them up fuel consumption would be cut in half, but he refused to listen. so i stayed in the 79 DM 800 with the juiced 237 i tuned myself and got 6 mpg out of.

then i went to the current job and a few years later we bought the 05 granite. 427 engine with eaton 8 speed. but this one was set up properly and i was getting 6 mpg even with the highway gears in it.

dont know how fast it would run, but i could easily do 75 in 7th gear.

Yes Bob. A lot can be changed that way.  Anything specific in mind ?

no but thanks for that fedex used to pull that a few years ago,,,,when we merged with american freightways 460s they would turn them down to nothing,,the last batch of new ones before i left,,,they didnt touch them,,since they came thru with 460s that were more powerful ,,burning less fuel...as far as the DM goes it doesnt even have seatbelts,,lol.bob

Truck has an AMI-370 ASET, T310, and CRDPC92/CRD93 4.42 rears.

I do believe the ami-370 is a great base to build the delete off of!

Can you check his software update level?  Step 12b I think is the critical update for the vecu if I recall...

Start with a boost gauge that is most important to see if you're even hitting fuel boost.

Post pictures of your exhaust manifold on the truck.  Should be able to see pretty quick if it has the restrictive manifold. A top view I think is most helpful.  The whole EGR delete can be done by swapping the exhaust manifold, turbo, and exhaust pipe.

Bud, he has the ASET- I. There is no EGR valve, and only a bump on the exh. Lobe that allows some exh. To be sucked back into the engine. Ues the manifold meeds to go, the turbo swap sounds good.  ECU program as well.

I don't have the ability to check the software for these trucks unfortunately.
