Hi all,

I was wondering if anyone has a detailed view on how Mack factory-installed the breathers on the RW cab.

There must be some kind of reinforcement bracket on the inside of the cab. Would really like to know what it looks like originally and where it is bolted (or even welded) to.

On mine they were retro-fitted and unfortunatelly they dind't do such a good job because the small reinforcement bracket they used made the weld seam of the cab, just above where the breather is fitted, burst 😞

I also noted that there are brackets available in Australia but I'm pretty sure it's a whole different design because the breathers on the australian Superliner do sit a lot higher (see pics attached)

Believe me I've seen much worse. I fixed one one time that they used nothing but fender washers. I don't think the truck owner owned the truck more than about a month before the top mount broke the sheet metal and he had to secure it with bungie cords to get home. All truck customizers and chrome shop guys are hacks

If I remember right on the factory installed dual breather RW I Drove it had a reinforcment bracket on the passenger side similar to how the drivers side is.

Most likely it's the same - a picture from the drivers side would also help a lot.

Luckily because of the vent on the drivers side the cab is much more sturdy in that area so it didn't do any harm to the weld seam yet.

And I only took a photo of the left hand side as I thought that it is probably the one not normally fitted but can photos of the other side if needed

There is quite a bit of reinforcing in behind the panel

Even out side, the bracket for the can has bolts through the cowl up top

So 4 bolts and little to no reinforcement would definitely not be strong enough

Put a couple of hats up high and things change very quickly with the loading just from the wind

Maybe check out my videos when I put all the new cowl and that on, there maybe more information there

A few hours of ribbish to fill in your evening
