Ray Kroc had a bad drinking problem. He basically built the McDonalds empire while shitfaced. He didn't quit until he took a stroke in the 80's

I gather this is the movie "The Founder"

The link ks put up isnt available in Australia

Dunno if he is or was a piss head but he was a goer that stumbled across something and saw a opportunity and took a chance

If the McDonald brothers weren't so stubborn I feel they would still be involved and be wealthy beyond their imagination

Yes according to the movie he did give them every opportunity to jump aboard and they weren’t interested but they were also famous for feeding entire families very cheap but now pretty much all fast burger establishments are very expensive and for the price you might as well find a ma and pop joint and have better taste and dining experience

We did get to go McMuffins on our way to San Diego thanksgiving week but when I want a hamburger Reno has many outstanding restaurants including Red Robin which is a chain restaurant here but amazing food

Do they Mc Cafe in the State's?

We are told it's a Australian thing but I have no idea if that's true

https://mcdonalds.com.au/menu/mccafe

In recent years table service has begun, were they deliver the meal to the table

Most people in Australia use the drive thru and cars at peak times are queued all the way up the street

And yes it definitely isnt a cheap feed anymore

Fish and chips was normal for all Australian families on a Friday and Saturday night until the mid 70's when the restaurant chains arrived

I don’t know if Red Robin is nation wide

There used to be a Red Robin around, I remember the commercials on TV. I don't know if there still is or not, our local channels are out of Roanoke and Lynchburg. I'll investigate.

Yep, there's one in Roanoke, one in Blacksburg, and several in the Richmond area, all over N.C.

None in Lynchburg.

Sanders shot and killed a competitor of his Shell Gas Station

I'll bet he was a real hoot.

There menu is  amazing and they have a full bar. I’ve never had anything in there. I didn’t like.

I never ate in there when I was in LA and there was a lot of them around. We started going there here in Reno and after the first visit we go there all the time my wife is a vegetarian. They also sell veggie burgers there that she really likes and Joseph I don’t know what happened over there at KFC that was an interesting story for years as I would not go in there. I thought their food was horrible but they did a big about face about 15 years ago. I took a chance and went in there. The food was amazing. Also went in there again about six months later, and it was the same way out of this world. I don’t know what they did over there at that . Time and I don’t know if their menu is still the same.

Actually, now that I think it over, it was potluck at an ATHS meeting around 15 years ago, I bought a couple of buckets at KFC to show up with. I had to think back 68 year old memory is getting right thin

That was back when Jason Alexander was doing their commercials and I heard they dumped him because he was trying to tell them how to prepare the chicken and I thought it was very odd that right after they dumped him their chicken was real good

I'd like to check it out, but we always have a pack of dogs with us 😄

I like Applebee's, we usually go to Applebee's at least once when we go to Florida, when we can get Vicki from Florida's daughter to watch the dogs for us. We go when they have the "buy one get one free" deal for all drinks, and $6 burgers.

I always said they need something like Applebee's in Appomattox- or a Twin Peaks would be fine too. But besides the usual fast food joints we have Mexican, Chinese, or pizza. That's about the only options around here, unless you want to drive to Lynchburg and deal with the crowds and traffic.

There used to be a Burger King in Appomattox but it closed. I always preferred a Whopper over a Big Mac. Used to be a Long John Silver's, it closed, and a Huddle House but it closed too. Not sure why.
