The new Mack Max Aero is debuting soon. I’m sure it will be very similar to the new Volvo VNR Max Aero with the sloped back windshield. The Volvo actually look well thought out under the hood after checking it out in person. I did notice it had the small in-line Cummins style SCR/DPF exhaust system. I heard last week that the Mexico plant will only produce Export models that are not for sale in the US

NEWS FLASH.... it will be a re badged Volvo

but this time "Mack" (if you can still call them a truck company) will even share the same cab with volvo.

the stupidity of truck Mfg these days is impressive.

Or dumb like a fox.  the next announcement from Sweden will be...." After careful consideration and to remain competitive in the market place, given th commonality of drive trains, the Mack organization will be integrated into the Volvo operation blah blah.

History repeats itself.  White Motor bought Sterling in the early 50's then said..."duh but we have Autocar".  end of Sterling.

Hope I'm wrong

Anyone watching it live on youtube.

I missed the live show but just watdhed the video. Over an hour long..very well done show..teleprompters were in the floor.  Truck is good looking..much b etter looking than Cascadia or any of the Paccars.  I can't imagine what it will cost..Also the number of systems it has, almost scary in terms of complexity.

Didn’t watch the video, just went to the Mack website to see the new Pioneer. At least the MP8 got bumped to 515 HP and 1900  pounds of torque. The turbo compound engine MP8  is still at 505 Hp but torque is 1950 foot pounds. Not sure about the 8 bag rear air suspension but looks like you can still get the older Max lite suspension and Mack axles are still available.

I had a chuckle over all the talk of investments to the factory to build it. Why was it that hard to bolt a bulldog on the hood of the new Volvo? LOL

I guess it could have been worse,  but it sure looks like a Cascadia with a Volvo cab and sleeper. And the part of it having 24 volt electrical and 30-some onboard modules, described as a computer on wheels.......that's enough to scare me, LOL

Apparently nothing says “built like a Mack” quite like a truck that’s built like everything else, literally using most of the design of another truck. But this is what is to be expected from truck manufacturers these days, say goodbye to anything that’s not a dryvan hauling fleet truck because a bunch of suits with more money than all of us combined will ever have think there’s not enough profit to be made in anything else. Pioneer is a good name too, especially for something that were genuinely different in the market, shame it was given to a rebadged VNL instead.

Was hoping for some kind of hybrid with crazy fuel savings or something to fill the gap the KW C500 is about to leave behind, but oh well, just another truck for steering wheel holders to get arrested in driving through Arkansas because they can’t speak English.
