Dunno why American trucks are so ugly these days

KW 909 from Australia, looks a lot more like a truck should

Yeah I kinda like the looks of mine cause it resembles the T600 series from the 90s. Atleast it's not an Electric or a Mainstream tubberwear truck I guess.

oh now you guys are talking paper,,we could put down whatever you wanted,,,,allot of us pretty much running around the clock,,,dont miss it 3 packs of cigarettes a day,,,because thats how many hours we were out there

I drove for years and my log book said I drove 452 miles today, even if I drove from Seattle to Memphis. 452 miles. 🤣

only time i ever did a log book was for that one trip. being local and under 100  miles from shop "as the crow flies" i am exempt from doing a log.

when you are up to your armpits in alligators,

it is hard to remember you only came in to drain the swamp..

although our latest version of them were more difficult to use they called in a differant provider ,,,,the new ones took alot longer to fill out everyone was bellyaching   but two weeks of those things and i was retired lol.bob

Never ran a log, never slept in a truck, and only ever owned day cabs. Every once in a while I had to travel to a far away job, but slept in motels. From my understanding the 100 air miles is based on where your base of operations is, not the businesses mailing address or main office. For example, if we got a job in Parkersburg WV. and moved all our equipment there and stayed there for a considerable amount of time, then the center of our 100 air mile radius would have been Parkersburg WV. Not Phila or Hazleton

I did that for a while when I hauled pulpwood and wood chips to the paper mill in Covington. We had these books that I think you could put a week on one page, you had to keep track of your hours but not break it down like a regular log book.

i park the truck where the yard, office, and mailing address all the same.

anywhere in Jersey, nu yawk city, long island, and southern Connecticut are our base of operations. but chase bank has not given us anything in Connecticut in around 5 years. same with long island. and we are trying ot cut out manhatten, brooklyn and queens, because it is not economically worth it to go there anymore with fuel, tolls, and asphalt costs.

Well Paul the aerodynamic issue is key in US.  No horns on the roof, no fender  mounted "lollipop" turn signals etc etc.

The turn signal issue really gets me.  Some trucks the turn signal IMO is compromised when its included with the headlight package.

not sure on the older 660, but my newer T880's have side directionals on the front fender above the front tires.

Thousand no, Million no, Billion no, A Trillion likes!!!! Bob  :thumb:    When l was driving that Volvo (hidden info-for DHL) and safety came up at a driver's meeting. l would always say "We need to have four inch turn signals installed on top of the steer axle fenders!" The factory ones on the A pillar can not be seen by passing traffic. Same answer all the time, We'll look into it. lf it was something the drivers wanted it didn't happen. But they could come up with some stupid useless shit we had to do..............    .....Hippy

they were a real pain in the ass,,,the ELOG is way faster

after I left baskin robbins. I heard they went to electronic logs. NO way would that work for me at the time. having the NJ run in days before GPS/ cell phones ; going out with 15=19 stops out of 32=35 0n route . it was always 16 + hr days. didn't have the smarts to run 2 logs like some others. it was down and back to ct before the George Washinton bridge morning rush. on occasion had to  do lay overs in NJ if certain stops not done by midnight. had to show sleeping in motel when actually slept in truck (day cab). run was a thurs- sat on paper. only scale house then was at CT/NY line. was fun for a while.
