The Mack Trucks of Jones Transport

Jones Transport 1976 Mack F-700

One thing about a cab-over truck; if anything happens, you are the first one there.

Although every one I ever saw was a F-700, there are also F-600, F-800, and F-900; I have not as yet been able to find what makes a F-600 different from a F-900 and etc.

Although the cab-mounted placard will only ever display an even "hundred" "00", various 1st and second digits following the F-X?? denote the actual model number and denote various options and equipment.

Look laying on the dash in the corner of the windshield if you want to see some history.

If you were tough enough to smoke those old filter-less Camels, then you were too tough for cancer to get you.

I bet that pack of cigarettes is older than the truck.

same differences as a R_600 vs R-700. basically drive train.

now that picture is a F-700 with a gold dog (maxi) on front ((?))and doors. I should have taken notes back then . Bozzotos of cheshire (down st from where I live now) had a fleet of F models back then ;; I'm thinking they were F600's ;maxi's with 5 speed. only F-700 I remember was the burgandy/ white F-700 from factory with the new experimental V-8   866 thermodyne .

New Haven truck rental bring us back a lot of memories when I used to ride with my pop as a young teenager I think that’s the place. It was right on the main highway somewhere I used to see a lot of U  models sitting in there at night

New Haven truck rental - north Haven CT . could see their yard  from I-91 . YES Jones transport  had the F model day cabs (like many new England fleets).

OK, I’m sure it was the same place and yes, that was a long long time ago. 1973 was the last time I rode with him.

Jones transport??? Isn’t that the outfit that used to run F model day cabs and they were kind of lime green if it is, I have one of their pictures circling around on my photo gallery

You guys are thinking of Jones Transfer = a completely different outfit.

Jones Transport is very alive and well today and haul tankers exclusively.

Nice photo; can you date the photo and put a location on it ?

I am assuming that is Leon standing in front of it, right ?

Buckskin,

That picture was taken at the Western North Carolina chapter show at the WNC Ag Center in Arden NC in the fall of 2014. It is one of the pictures we used when presenting him with his 50 year achievement award. His son has since changed the wheels to aluminum Budds.😟
