Shortest of the short busses.

Actually wouldn't make a bad jockey truck. Automatic, small motor, staircase for saving the knees. Wonder if it has a hydraulic 5th wheel

I almost stayed at my old job part-time moving trailers, but I was talking to a guy that just got off of one and went back to forklift driver and I asked him what the deal was and he said he got tired of jumping on and off that thing, it was easier to run a forklift

You know truck driving is like the only occupation that OSHA exempts from rules about working at heights and climbing. Something about it falling under the jurisdiction of the DOT or FMCSA and they do not address the issue. In an industrial setting you can only climb a few feet (like maybe 3) before all kinds of regulations about fall protection and everything kick in. I've been in plants where they require you to wear a harness and be clipped off just to run a scissor lift

I worked at a place that for about 20 years everyone outside of the office's ran either the forklifts or skid steer's we got bought out and all of the sudden I went to forklift school to be an instructor for giving out tests, so everyone had a license in case Osa showed up at the school I never was asked to actually drive and operate a forklift I just sat and watched video's and tested on stuff I read I got a license to instruct for gas, diesel, liquid, propane, natural gas, electric, lift trucks about anything that lifted stuff the yard guy at our yard was running a forklift from the time he got out of school all totaled probably 40 years he and I laughed when I gave him a test so he could be able to drive the forklifts. Fifty years ago, I had to have a forklift license and one for the yard crane but nothing to get in a 992 or run a d-9 around the yard

The first time me and tom got sent out to the stripping's to work on a cat we pulled onto the stripping road and a sign said keep left we looked at each other and was at a loss what that was about and about that time a really big haul truck came around the bend in our lane we moved over just in time no one at the shop told us to pay attention to the road signs. I was camping up in Maine in the paper company's land and when you signed in they told us their logging trucks have the right of way, and they won't stop for you and we watched them go by hell bent for leather down the golden road

Forklift certification, what a joke. I was on a forklift before I was a teen. When that "certified forklift operator" thing came out I thought "What kind of idiot can't operate a forklift" But then again, today we have grown men that can't jumpstart a pickup or change a tire. If we are going to Make America Great Again all these nancy boys are going to have to be thoroughly re-educated

Good thing it wasn't a Big Mac. I wouldn't trust the "special sauce"

I ran D8 dozers,375 excavators,779 haul trucks, Forklifts,Overhead cranes,Scanskia drilling rigs and other wheeled equipment in a quarry I worked at without one piece of paper saying I could...If you couldnt run it you got the gate......Now lots of people have fancy certs saying they can run this and that and they cant!!!! Whats gone wrong???? To have a CDL in Europe now you have to have CPC cert.To get it its a day every year in a classroom.Last year the guy who delivered the course admitted to us he didnt have a CDL as he didnt need one to deliver the course, just read it out of the manual......Got hard to take it seriously real fast......

25 years ago i had a union "pit book"  the company got  big job widening a main line road.

two of the machines i ran were a cat 980 and a terex T36 scrapper.

union BA came on the job one day and saw me in the 980. told me i could not be in it and called the hall for someone to run it.

guy was in the machine 10 minutes and overheated the trans trying to run in third gear, plus locked up the brakes. also complained it did not have air conditioning. took me 15 minutes to put it back to work.

next day the BA kicked me off the T36. new guy shows up and the BA tells me i have to show new guy how to run it.

i told him to F.O. and everyone walked off the job until the BA left.

that was the last day he was allowed near that job.

as retribution, a month later he showed up at the sand pit i was running, intending to shut me down foe sending loads to a union site with non union drivers.

he had "spies" tailing the trucks......who all went out of state..

when he found out, he left. and got 1/2 mile down the rod before being pulled over for driving while intoxicated and open alcohol containers in the back seat of the company pickup he was driving.

i had seen him drinking while i was loading trucks and called the police to let them know.

not only did he loose his license, he also lost his job.

and now that i think of it, it was 36 or 37 years ago, i left that company spring of 95 when the owner started treating me like his son in law that left because he was tired of being treated like dog poop on the sole of a shoe.
