Hello, I have a 2013 and a 2015 Pinnacle CXU 613 and they are both rated as 415C on the engine plate. We haul heavy and I've noticed that there are MP8's with 505C on the engine tag. I'm wondering what the most practical option is for getting more HP since it would be very useful with our logs and logging equipment that we haul. I would prefer getting them to 505 but I think I have heard or read that you need to change cams and injectors to get into that category. These trucks have the original emmisions intact and I prefer to keep it that way. I did hear that there are tunes that will burn better and be less trouble for the emmisions system. I'd be interested in that as well. If there is anyone that could get me started down the right track I'd appreciate it. Lots of voices out there. Experience is better than opinion in my book. Thanks!

Tuners on these trucks are not very reliable at all, so I wouldn't advise you to go that route. I don't know if the cams/injectors are different between the ratings, but I do know the "right" way to accomplish an uprate would be expensive (and maybe impossible) to accomplish through Mack's channels. I'm think I remember seeing a notice that Mack would no longer send out uprate updates for whatever reason. Maybe others will have better information than me, all I have to go off of is what the dealerships will regurgitate.

Thanks for the reply Heinz, it confirms some of my thoughts on dealership ability to help with power uprates. Are all dealers in the same box, so to speak?

Are there any others out there with knowledge or experience on power ugrades on a full emissions MP8?

I searched my old emails and found a case where someone ordering a new truck wanted to up the HP after it left the factory. Our foreman had this to say, and he wasn't trying to turn away the work: "As emissions standards get tighter and tighter our ability to do HP increases is limited. It is decided on a case by case basis. I’ll let you know what happens next week. If they do allow an increase it is usually a charge of between $2000-$3000 for a software change."

I think the high charge would make us a little shy. We've checked with our local Vomac dealer three times in a 3 year period and the answer is always the same. Can't do it. Was wondering if Mackpro would be able to help out with something like that at his location or had some advice. I think I read on an older thread that he has done some of it in the past.
