tjc transport Posted Sunday at 11:52 PM Share Posted Sunday at 11:52 PM i was taught at 12 years old the only thing a clutch is for is starting out on flat or uphill. and as such was never taught how to shift with a clutch. so when my friends pilot bushing came out of the crank and jammed the clutch in his 69 296/375 4 speed chevelle super sport in state college pa, i offered to drive it home 8 hours to the jersey shore. he was amazed i could shift without the clutch. a few times i had to stop for lights or to pay tolls and turned the engine off. then slipped it into first, and fired it up to take off. You can do away with them and get faster shifting.
