I'm sure you know this, but make sure all that release lever adjustment stuff is freed up while it's out in the open, and the shafts and bushings are in good shape.

it's called a secondary alignment  adjusting combo tool ; not a hammer and screwdriver.... geesh

fine spline  2 1/2 --2 5/8 th ??? . same principle as a wheel double nut. loosen the lock nut turn other to lengthen /shorten distance from throw out to fingers. lipe was the common  of that style.
