Its been a slow process but I have replaced my EM6-285 with a E7-400.  The E7-400 was a vmac and i converted it to full mechanical bosch P7100 type pump. Antrim built the pump and turned it up a bit and changed the governor springs so it will turn 21-2200 rpm instead of limited to the 1800. Also bought new injectors with an approximate 20% over nozzle. Upgraded turbo to the s475 style. My question is where to set the injection timing. I have it spill timed at right about 20°-20.5° advance the best i can tell. Does anyone know if i need more? Or less? Or sounds about right. Runs alot stronger than the em6 and makes around 35lbs of boost in a pull with a good load. I’m getting a bit of light colored smoke at idle and low rpm no load. Black to a gray haze in the throttle or heavy loaded. The black to gray looks normal to me the light i don’t know about. Water temps stay 170-180. Exhaust temps stay good. They will climb pretty quickly if you try to lug it hard loaded. Downshifting or backing off the go peddle drops the exhaust temps right back off. Hottest i have let it get is about 1000 or so for a second or two at a time. My main question is if my timing sounds right to everyone. Thank you Josh

My opinion ! 18 -22  any where in that neighborhood is going to be fine ! Most times the timing that is picked is for factory emissions! Not for power! You could try going higher if you want I would not go past 24! If you don’t have a pyro get one you odviously have a boost gauge and water temperature important! Go with what you see and feel!
just my opinion!
