Last summer the turbo on my CL with 350 mech. self destructed, the local Mack dealer couldn't find one & didn't know how long it would take to get one so I went to an aftermarket supplier. They got me one the next day, cost 1150.00 Pretty expensive but at least I got the truck back to work quickly.

Herb, you mention an A/M turbocharger in your post. I'm curious, did you mean supplied by other than a Mack dealer, ie: Napa, Carquest, etc. or some other brand like a rebuilt Garret when you had a Schwitzer?

Thanks,

Rob

Rob, the original was a Schwitzer, the replacement was Borg Warner Turbo Systems. Got it from Diesel Specialists of Green Bay

I know that Borg Warner Turbo Systems did own Schwitzer but am not sure about that any longer. I'm not that versed in turbocharging and was wondering about interchangability between brands. On another note, how far is Appleton from Sheboygan? I've got a generator school at the Kohler plant and will get into that town about 6pm or so on Monday and will leave on Friday. If it's not too far, maybe we could meet someplace?

Why dont u just buy one bigger turbo instead of running 2 that would be easier and cheaper in the long run. If u run 2 and the front turbo blows it would take out the 2nd and cost that much more. Im not tellin u how to play your cards or nothin like that its just something to think about.

If u want one that moves big air try one off a ginset engine. 50+ psi guarenteed . nothin else try turbo calculator.com you'll learn lots of info there.

if you wann make aset of twins..don't use two same sizer turbos.. ithink you know that..ones is bigger then the other..twins woirk real real good..they make both turbos work with less effort...and the spool is quicker and the boost cooler and higher psi..there is a group in pa somewhere at a colleg doing a e7 electronic in a b model with twins on it..its a tech school and its there project . one of the memebers is a memeber of The turbo diesel register the dodge cummins group and forum..the web site is http://www.turbodieselregister.com/
